A Pro-Shot rifle chamber cleaning mop for .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm is a purpose-built tool for AR-15 and M16 owners who need fast, effective chamber maintenance without the hassle of full bore cleaning. The 8x32 thread design fits standard rifle rod connections, and the 100% cotton construction paired with a brass core lets you swab out carbon, fouling, and old lubricant from the chamber in minutes—ideal whether you're breaking in a new upper, maintaining a duty rifle, or just keeping your AR-15 running clean between range sessions.

Chamber cleaning gets overlooked on the AR platform, but a dirty chamber can affect reliability and case life. This mop is designed to do one job well: scrub the chamber and throat area without the setup time of a full bore cleaning rod. The all-cotton material is gentle on steel, while the brass core won't damage your chamber or get stuck. Drop it on your cleaning rod, add a light solvent or lubricant, and run it in and out a few times. It's fast enough for quick touch-ups on a hunting trip and thorough enough for competitive shooters who detail their guns between matches.

Pro-Shot has built its reputation serving everyone from casual hunters to Olympic and competitive bench-rest shooters, law enforcement, and special operations units. They focus on making cleaning tools that actually work, without the marketing hype. If you run an AR-15 or M16 and want a dedicated chamber mop that's fast and reliable, this is a no-fuss addition to your cleaning kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this mop fit my cleaning rod?

Yes, if your rifle cleaning rod has 8x32 threads. This is the standard thread size for most rod-to-tool connections on AR-15, M16, and civilian .223 rifles.

Can I use this for general bore cleaning?

This mop is designed specifically for chamber cleaning. For full bore cleaning, you'll want a properly sized bore brush or jag-mounted patch system for the barrel.

What solvent or lubricant should I use?

Any standard rifle solvent or light gun oil works with this cotton mop. Use what you already have in your cleaning kit—there's no special requirement.

Is the brass core safe for my chamber?

Yes. Brass won't scratch or damage hardened steel chambers, and it won't lodge inside if you're careful. The brass core is there to keep the mop from falling apart and to prevent the mop itself from getting stuck.
