The PRIMOS Elk Hyper Lip Single with Converter Open Reed Call gives you versatility in one compact tool—switch between high-pitched cow and calf sounds for close-range work, or remove the Tone Converter to access louder, more aggressive calling when you're trying to locate bulls or reach them across distance. That flexibility is what makes this call so effective across different elk hunting scenarios, whether you're working call-shy bulls in timber or cutting through open country to find responsive stock.
The open single-reed design is engineered to hit those higher frequencies that mimic cow and calf vocalizations—the sounds that draw in curious bulls during the rut and outside it. With the Tone Converter in place, you get softer, mellower tones that appeal to bulls already in close, reducing the risk of spooking them once they commit. Pull the converter off when you need to project farther or sound more dominant, giving you real tactical control over your calling intensity and pitch.
This is a no-fuss call that cuts through the learning curve. You're not juggling multiple reeds or fumbling with complex adjustments in the field—it's dead simple to switch modes and intuitive to run once you understand the two sounds you've got. For elk hunters who want one reliable call that handles the full range of situations you'll face, the Hyper Lip Single delivers.
With the Tone Converter attached, you can produce the higher pitches of cow and calf elk, along with mellow, softer tones suited for calling in bulls that are already paying attention. Remove the converter to access louder, more aggressive calling for locating distant bulls or cutting through heavy cover.
Keep the Tone Converter on when bulls are close and you want to avoid spooking them with overly aggressive sounds. Remove it when you're trying to locate bulls from distance, working open country, or when you need to project your calling sound farther.
Yes. The Hyper Lip Single is designed to be straightforward—one reed, two modes depending on whether the converter is attached. That simplicity means less learning curve and more confidence in the field.
