P-Line
The P-Line Plier Split Ring 4.5" is a purpose-built tool for anglers who need reliable leverage when rigging terminal tackle. Split rings are a fixture in saltwater and freshwater fishing—they're the small but critical connection points between main line, leaders, and hooks or lures—but opening them by hand or with inadequate tools can mean bent fingers, broken nails, and wasted time on the water. These pliers are designed specifically to handle that job, with a 4.5-inch profile that gives you enough reach and mechanical advantage to work heavy rings without strain.
Built from Chrome Vanadium construction, these pliers are engineered to withstand the repetitive stress of opening and closing split rings season after season. The spring-loaded handles return to open position on their own, reducing hand fatigue during long rigging sessions—whether you're at the vise before a trip, at the dock, or on the boat. For serious anglers who tie their own rigs or maintain terminal tackle on the regular, a dedicated split ring plier beats improvising with needle-nose or standard cutters.
If you're tying saltwater spreads, freshwater crankbait rigs, or pike and musky lures, this is the kind of tool that makes the work faster and more consistent. Keep one in your tackle box, boat, or shoreline kit.
| Length | 4.5 inches |
| Construction | Chrome Vanadium |
| Handle Type | Spring-loaded |
| Brand | P-Line |
Split ring pliers are designed to safely open split rings—the small metal rings used to connect hooks, lures, and leaders in fishing rigs. The plier jaws grip opposite sides of the ring and spread it apart, allowing you to slide line or a hook attachment on or off without damaging the ring or your hands.
While you might be able to open a split ring with standard needle-nose or cutting pliers, dedicated split ring pliers are engineered with the right jaw angle and leverage to do the job safely and efficiently without slipping or deforming the ring. They're also easier on your hands, especially if you're rigging regularly.
Spring-loaded handles have a built-in spring mechanism that automatically returns the plier jaws to the open position when you release your grip. This reduces hand fatigue during extended use and makes rigging faster, since you don't have to manually open the jaws between each ring.
Yes. The Chrome Vanadium construction provides corrosion resistance suitable for saltwater environments, making these pliers a practical choice for both saltwater and freshwater anglers who work with split rings regularly.
