Eagle Claw
The Eagle Claw Tool Split Ring Pliers are a purpose-built hand tool for anglers who need reliable, repeatable control when opening and closing split rings on terminal tackle. If you've wrestled with split rings using the wrong pliers—bending your fingers, bruising your hand, or mangling the ring itself—you know why a dedicated split ring tool matters. These pliers are designed specifically to grip and manipulate split rings without slipping or deforming them, making quick work of rigging everything from crankbaits and swimbaits to inline spinners and spoons.
Built by Eagle Claw, a name synonymous with reliable fishing hardware, these split ring pliers fit naturally into any tackle box or boat bag. Whether you're building terminal rigs at the vise, swapping out trebles and hooks on crankbaits, or performing field repairs on the water, having the right tool makes the job faster, cleaner, and less frustrating. The design gives you leverage and grip control that general-purpose needle-nose pliers simply can't match.
Split ring pliers are often overlooked until you need them—then they become indispensable. If you tie your own rigs, fish with hard baits, or maintain your own tackle, this is a tool worth keeping within arm's reach.
Split ring pliers are designed to grip and manipulate split rings—the small metal rings used in terminal tackle rigs. They give you the leverage and control needed to open rings for rigging hooks, lures, and swivels, then close them securely without deforming or scratching the metal.
You can try, but you'll likely slip, damage the ring, or frustrate yourself. Split ring pliers have a specialized jaw design that grips split rings firmly without letting them spin or flatten. If you rig tackle regularly, a dedicated tool saves time and money by keeping your split rings intact.
Open the split ring slightly using the pliers, slide your hook, lure, or swivel eye into the gap, then use the pliers to carefully close the ring back down. The pliers do the gripping and control; your other hand guides the attachment.
