Mossberg
The Mossberg 500 All Purpose shotgun with 28" barrel and 3 chokes is built for hunters and sport shooters who need one gun to handle birds, clay, and everything in between. The 12-gauge chambered for 3" shells gives you plenty of versatility, while the 6-round capacity keeps you in the action. With a twin bead sighting system and vented rib barrel, you'll track targets cleanly and manage recoil predictably—whether you're working a dove field at sunrise or running a round of trap at the weekend range. The three included Accu-Set chokes let you fine-tune your pattern for different distances and game, so you're not locked into one setup. This is a shotgun that does its job without fuss or fanfare: solid ergonomics, reliable operation, and real-world durability at a price that makes sense.
The wood furniture and blued finish give the 500 a classic shotgun feel that works as well in a blind as it does in a safe. At 7.5 pounds and 47.5 inches overall with a fixed 13.875" length of pull, it handles naturally for most shooters and won't tire you out during a long day afield. The all-purpose reputation of the Mossberg 500 platform is well earned—thousands of hunters and sport shooters have run these guns hard and come back for more. It's the kind of workhorse that becomes invisible to you; you focus on the shot, not the tool.
If you're looking for a 12-gauge shotgun that swings between hunting and sport shooting without compromise, or you simply want a reliable, capable gun that won't break the bank, the Mossberg 500 All Purpose is a proven choice. Add a second barrel later if you want to specialize, or stick with this one and adjust the chokes to match your needs.

Yes. The 28" barrel and three included chokes are designed to cover multiple hunting scenarios. Swap chokes between tighter patterns for distant ducks and more open patterns for closer upland work. The 3" chamber handles the ammunition range you'll need across different game.
Accu-Set chokes allow you to adjust your shot pattern without buying separate barrels. Different choke tubes produce tighter or more open patterns, letting you dial in the right spread for your distance and target. The specific choke tubes included are listed in your manual.
The 13.875" length of pull and wood stock suit standard adult frames well. If you have a shorter or longer reach, other Mossberg 500 variants or an aftermarket stock may be worth exploring—the 500 platform is highly customizable.
