Mossberg
The Mossberg FLEX 500 all-purpose 12-gauge pump-action shotgun is built for hunters and shooters who need one gun to handle whatever the day throws at them. This model (50121) comes with a matte blued 28-inch vent rib ported barrel topped with a twin-bead sight system, giving you flexibility for upland game, waterfowl, or clay shooting. The 3-inch chamber and 6-round capacity make it practical for hunting applications, while the Accu-Set choke system lets you fine-tune your shot pattern without swapping barrels. Weighing 7.5 pounds and measuring 48.25 inches overall, it's balanced enough for extended days afield yet substantial enough to manage recoil from 12-gauge loads. The synthetic black stock and fore-end stand up to weather and rough handling, making this a working gun for the real world.
What makes the FLEX 500 stand out in the pump-action shotgun market is its reputation for reliability at a practical price point. Mossberg's twin-bead sight arrangement helps you track moving targets, while the ported barrel reduces recoil impulse and muzzle rise—a genuine advantage when you're cycling rounds quickly or shooting all day. The fixed length of pull (14.25 inches) suits most adult shooters comfortably; the gun points naturally and doesn't feel cramped or stretched. Whether you're a first-time shotgun buyer or adding a versatile 12-gauge to your collection, the FLEX 500 delivers honest performance without unnecessary frills.
This is a no-nonsense shotgun that works. It's not a race gun, and it's not a safe-queen collectible. It's the kind of tool that shows up, does the job, and asks for basic maintenance in return. If you hunt upland birds, work waterfowl over decoys, or simply want a reliable 12-gauge for the range, the FLEX 500 is worth your attention.
