Lee Precisiom
The Lee Precision Challenger Press 40th Anniversary Edition with Breech Lock is a single-stage reloading press built for shooters who reload centerfire rifle and pistol rounds with serious intent. This O-frame press comes as a complete package: the Challenger III press itself plus a free 38 Special / 357 Magnum Breech Lock Carbide 3-Die Set—everything you need to start reloading these common handgun cartridges right out of the box. Whether you're a precision rifle shooter stretching your own brass, a cowboy action competitor, or a handgun enthusiast who shoots enough to justify reloading, this 40th Anniversary edition represents Lee's decades of refinement in single-stage press design.
The Challenger III's O-frame design is engineered for strength and leverage, with a 4-inch opening that gives your hands genuine working room—no cramped quarters, no awkward positioning. The third-generation Challenger moved the priming position up to a more ergonomic height, eliminating the stooping and strain of older lever-prime systems. The Lee Lever Prime System itself remains tool-free and instant: no complex adjustments, no secondary actions. Spent primers drop straight through the ram into a collection tube, keeping your press clean and your workspace uncluttered.
What sets this press apart is the Breech Lock Quick Change die system. Swap dies with a twist of the wrist—no loosening lock rings, no re-zeroing your seating die or sizing die height. The included 3-die set features carbide sizing and expanding dies (easier on your press, longer-lasting), a bullet seating die, colored Smart Lock bushings for quick visual die identification, a universal shell holder, a powder dipper, and comprehensive load data. The same engineering would cost significantly more under other brand names, and you'd still lack the Challenger's feature set.
All steel linkage, adjustable lever length, and that proven O-frame design mean this press will outlast trends in reloading. If you're serious about 38 Special, 357 Magnum, or any other cartridge you'll add dies for later, the Challenger III is the workhorse that gets the job done quietly and reliably.

Yes. The Breech Lock Quick Change system works with all standard brands of reloading dies, so you're not locked into Lee products only. You can build out your die collection over time and swap them instantly without re-adjusting.
The free die set included with this 40th Anniversary package is sized for 38 Special and 357 Magnum. If you want to reload other cartridges later, you'll purchase additional die sets for those rounds separately.
This package includes the press, a complete 3-die set, shell holder, powder dipper, and load data. You'll also need a reloading scale, calipers or micrometer, and your choice of powder and primers, which are sold separately. A reloading manual is also highly recommended.
Dies are held in colored Breech Lock bushings that seat into the press head. To change dies, you simply twist the bushing and remove it—no lock rings to loosen, no re-adjusting die height. The next die goes in with a twist and is ready to use immediately.
