The Lee 90867 Factory Crimp Pistol Die for .380 ACP is a purpose-built reloading die that solves one of handloading's most common headaches: inconsistent crimp tension. Unlike full-length sizing dies that work double-duty, this single-stage tool focuses entirely on delivering a firm, uniform crimp that mimics factory ammunition quality. If you're serious about .380 ACP loads that chamber reliably and perform predictably, this die takes the guesswork out of the crimping process.
Built from steel with an internal carbide ring, the die sizes the cartridge and applies crimp in one stroke, eliminating the need for separate case trimming or chamfering operations. The adjusting screw lets you dial in exactly the amount of crimp your ammunition needs—tighter for magnum pistol powders where ignition consistency matters, or lighter for standard loads. Because it's a carbide die, you can load without case lube, which means less mess and faster prep work at the bench.
The real payoff is consistency. A firm crimp keeps bullets in place during feeding and firing, reduces case bulge, and ensures the kind of ignition reliability you need from defensive or match-grade ammunition. Whether you're loading for target practice or carry ammo, this die handles .380 ACP brass the way the pros do it.
| Product | Lee 90867 Factory Crimp Pistol Die |
| Caliber | .380 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) |
| Die Type | Factory Crimp Die |
| Material | Steel with internal carbide ring |
| Case Lube Required | No |
A factory crimp die is dedicated solely to applying crimp after sizing is complete elsewhere in your reloading sequence, or it performs both operations in a single press stroke. This focused approach lets you achieve the uniform, firm crimp that factory ammunition has—something that full-length dies often can't do as precisely because they're trying to do multiple jobs at once.
No. Because this die applies crimp without requiring trimmed cases, you skip the trimming and chamfering steps, which saves considerable time per round and means less wear on your case-prep equipment.
The Lee 90867 is designed as a standard reloading die and will fit any single-stage or progressive press that accepts standard .380 ACP dies. Confirm your press accepts standard die threads before purchase.
Carbide is extremely hard and wear-resistant, meaning the die lasts longer through thousands of rounds. The carbide ring eliminates the need for case lube, making your reloading process cleaner and faster while still protecting your brass from scoring.
