Hornady
Hornady ELD Match Target 6mm .243 108gr bullets are precision match-grade projectiles engineered for shooters who demand top-tier accuracy at distance. Built on decades of Hornady's ballistic innovation, these Extremely Low Drag (ELD-M) rounds combine cutting-edge tip technology with a secant ogive and boattail design to deliver consistent, repeatable performance downrange. Whether you're loading for competition, long-range target work, or precision rifle practice, the 108-grain 6mm ELD Match rounds offer the ballistic efficiency and shot-to-shot consistency that separate good groups from great ones.
The Heat Shield tip is the standout feature here—it's engineered to resist the aerodynamic heating that can degrade bullet shape during supersonic flight, ensuring the meplat (tip point) stays true and consistent lot to lot. That consistency translates directly to tighter groups and more predictable wind calls at distance. Hornady's Advanced Manufacturing Process (AMP) jackets are held to tight concentricity tolerances, and the streamlined boattail design keeps the ballistic coefficient high—meaning flatter trajectory and less drift in crosswind conditions compared to traditional match bullets.
These are reloading components (bullets only, not loaded ammunition), so you'll need a press, dies, brass, primers, and powder to assemble them. A 1-8" twist barrel is the minimum recommended for stabilizing the 108-grain bullet at standard velocities. If you're a serious 6mm handloader chasing accuracy at the range or in competition, the ELD Match delivers the precision and ballistic credentials to earn your confidence.
| Caliber | 6mm (.243) |
| Weight | 108 grains |
| Bullet Type | ELD Match (Extremely Low Drag-Match) |
| Design | Secant ogive, boattail, Heat Shield tip |
| Minimum Recommended Twist | 1-8" |
| Hornady Product Code | 24561 |
Hornady recommends a 1-8" twist barrel as the minimum for proper bullet stabilization. Faster twists (1-7" or tighter) will also work; slower twists may not stabilize the bullet adequately.
These are reloading bullets only. You'll need to assemble them into complete cartridges using a press, dies, brass casings, primers, and powder.
The Heat Shield tip resists deformation from aerodynamic heating at high velocity, keeping the bullet's tip shape consistent. This consistency shot-to-shot translates to tighter groups and more predictable ballistics, especially at distance where precision matters most.
Hornady verifies ELD Match ballistic coefficients using Doppler radar and corrects them to standard atmospheric conditions, ensuring the published BCs match real-world performance rather than idealized lab conditions.
