Geissele Automatics
The Geissele Automatics AR-15/M4 Super Reaction Rod is a purpose-built tool for serious armorers and gunsmiths who need to work on stubborn barrel nuts. If you're dealing with over-torqued, seized, or threadlocked barrel nuts on modern AR platforms, this tool is designed to give you the leverage and control to break them loose without damaging your upper receiver or index pin. It's the kind of specialized equipment that separates a quick field fix from a proper gunsmithing job.
The Super Reaction Rod works through a clever pre-loading system that mates the barrel extension lugs directly to the rod's lugs, creating a solid foundation before you apply torque to the barrel nut. This approach eliminates the movement and flex that normally occurs during tightening or removal, fixing your upper receiver firmly in place while you work. The result: you can apply substantial force to a stubborn barrel nut without transferring stress to the index pin or risking receiver damage.
When you don't need maximum holding power, the pre-loading system is removable—allowing the Super Reaction Rod to function as a standard reaction rod for general upper receiver work. This versatility means you can perform 360-degree maintenance on your upper, working vertically or horizontally without repositioning your rig. For the armorer who handles multiple builds, repairs, and problem guns, this dual-function design saves bench space and investment.
The Super Reaction Rod includes a pre-loading system that grips and stabilizes the barrel extension and upper receiver simultaneously, allowing you to apply heavy torque to difficult barrel nuts without stress on the index pin. The pre-loading system is removable, so you can also use it as a standard reaction rod for general upper work.
The Super Reaction Rod is designed for AR-15/M4 platforms. Compatibility beyond those platforms is not covered in the product specifications.
Remove the pre-loading system and the Super Reaction Rod functions as a standard reaction rod, allowing you to work vertically and horizontally—360 degrees of access without repositioning.
The Super Reaction Rod is engineered for advanced armorers who work frequently on AR platforms and encounter stubborn barrel nuts. If you regularly maintain or build AR rifles and need to handle seized or over-torqued components, this tool is built for that job.
