Fortis Manufacturing, Inc.
The Fortis Mfg Billet M4 Stripped Upper Receiver is a precision-machined component built for shooters and builders who demand both performance and aesthetics in their AR platform rifle. Machined from 7075 T6 aluminum — the same material spec used in aerospace applications — this billet upper is stripped and ready for your build, offering a clean slate to configure exactly how you want it.
Fortis designed this upper around a simple philosophy: eliminate weight where it doesn't matter, keep rigidity and strength where it does. The result is a featherweight platform that doesn't compromise on durability or function. At 6.7 ounces, it keeps your rifle lean without forcing trade-offs in structural integrity or performance. The flat-top 1913 Picatinny rail runs true, giving you full flexibility for mounting optics and accessories, and the M4 feed ramp ensures reliable feeding when you mate this upper to your bolt carrier group and barrel.
Every Fortis upper receives military-spec Type III hard-coat anodizing, protecting against corrosion and wear while maintaining a finish that looks as good as it performs. The billet construction and engraved Fortis logos—on both sides and the top—mark this as a precision part built to last. Made in the USA, this is a component you can build around with confidence, whether you're assembling a duty rifle, a precision build, or a lightweight hunting platform.
| Material | Billet 7075 T6 Aluminum |
| Weight | 6.7 oz |
| Rail System | 1913 Picatinny (flat-top) |
| Feed Ramp | M4 specification |
| Finish | Type III Hard-Coat Anodize (Military Spec) |
| Configuration | Stripped (no bolt carrier group or barrel included) |
| Origin | Made in the USA |
Yes. This is an M4-spec upper receiver with a standard 1913 Picatinny rail and M4 feed ramp, so it will accept any AR-15 barrel and bolt carrier group assembly that meets the same specifications.
Stripped means the upper receiver comes as the billet aluminum component only—no barrel, bolt carrier group, charging handle, or rail accessories are included. You supply those parts based on your build requirements.
The flat-top 1913 Picatinny rail accepts any optic, mount, or accessory designed for mil-spec Picatinny mounting, giving you complete freedom to choose your sight system based on your intended use.
Billet uppers offer tight tolerances and precision fit, and Fortis's design here specifically reduces weight without sacrificing the rigidity and structural integrity that a forged receiver also provides. The choice depends on your priorities; Fortis's billet approach suits builders who value lightweight performance and precise machining.
