The Faxon AR15 barrel in 6.5 Grendel with an 18" Gunner profile is engineered for shooters who want a balanced rifle—accurate enough for precision work, nimble enough for practical use. Built from triple stress-relieved 416R stainless steel, this barrel resists the heat warping and harmonic whip that can dog accuracy on extended strings of fire. The chamber is cut to Type 2 spec (.136" bolt face depth), and the bore is button-rifled with a 1-8" twist and 5R rifling geometry—a combination that favors velocity and bore cleaning while supporting everything from budget plinking ammo to heavy target loads.

The Gunner profile itself deserves a mention: stout between the chamber and gas block for durability, then trimmed to a pencil taper forward of the gas block to keep the rifle light and handy without sacrificing rigidity where it matters. That's a working design, not a compromise. The barrel comes with a mid-length gas system (NP3-coated tube), QPQ Nitride coating on the barrel body for corrosion resistance, an 11° target crown, and a 5/8"-24 threaded muzzle ready for suppressors or brakes.

Whether you're building a long-range rig, a hunting rifle, or a practical AR platform that does well across multiple roles, the Faxon 6.5 Grendel barrel delivers the accuracy and reliability Faxon is known for—without the hype or bloat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What platform does this barrel fit?

This is a drop-in barrel for any AR15 platform chambered in 6.5 Grendel. The mid-length gas system and Type 2 chamber are standard for that caliber.

Is this barrel accurate for long-range or target shooting?

Yes. The 5R button rifling, target crown, triple stress-relieved steel, and Gunner profile design all support precision shooting. The barrel handles both budget plinking and heavy, precision target ammunition.

What does the Gunner profile mean?

The Gunner profile is stout and reinforced from the chamber to the gas block to resist heat warping and barrel whip, then tapers to a pencil profile forward of the gas block to reduce weight and maintain easy handling without sacrificing rigidity where it counts.

Is the muzzle threaded?

Yes. The barrel features a 5/8"-24 threaded muzzle, compatible with standard suppressors and muzzle devices.
