EGW
The EGW Remington 788 Standard Action scope base gives you a modern Picatinny rail setup on a classic receiver without any gunsmithing. If you own a Remington 788 and want to mount a quality optic—whether you're upgrading an old hunting rifle or setting up a precision .308 for the range—this one-piece base lets you do it using the existing factory holes. No drilling, no tapping, no trips to the gunsmith. It's the straightforward way to get repeatable, adjustable scope mounting on a rifle that deserves better than iron sights.
EGW machines these bases from 6061 T6 extruded aluminum, the same material used in tactical mounts and precision rifles. The Picatinny slots are gauged to MIL-STD 1913 specs (±.002"), so you can trust the fit and switching between quality rings won't cost you zero. The design is lightweight but rigid—the full-width cross-slots give you tons of flexibility to dial in eye relief or swap optics without starting over. Whether you run Picatinny or Weaver rings, you've got options.
Installation is straightforward: the base drops onto the standard action receiver using factory scope-mounting holes. EGW supplies socket head Torx screws and a wrench; they recommend 20 inch-pounds of torque and a small drop of blue Loctite to lock everything down. Once it's on, you can move your scope forward or back along the rail in seconds, so you can dial in the perfect sight picture without tools.
