The EGW JEM Beavertail Grip Safety in stainless steel is built for 1911 builders and gunsmiths who want a precision fit without compromise. Machined from solid barstock, this grip safety arrives slightly oversized in critical dimensions—a deliberate design that lets you dial in a custom fit on your 1911 frame rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all part into place. If you're assembling a 1911 or refining an existing build, this approach gives you the control that factory parts simply don't offer.
The beavertail is wider than the frame itself, which means you're fitting the safety to the frame, not the other way around. The extra length at the bottom and the carefully considered angle fill the gap in the frame properly, and the enlarged contact pad delivers positive engagement when you shoot. The .158-inch reamed pin hole and .250-inch radius are precision-cut and ready for installation. Keep in mind: this grip safety is designed for high-cut frames and will require blending to achieve that perfect flush fit—standard work for any serious builder.
Compatibility is straightforward: the JEM Beavertail fits all JEM frames and 2011 High-Cap STI pistol frames. Stainless steel construction resists corrosion and pairs well with modern frame finishes. Whether you're hand-fitting a complete build or upgrading an existing 1911, this is the kind of part that separates a decent gun from one that feels custom-made for your hand.
| Material | Stainless Steel |
| Pin Hole Diameter | .158 inch (reamed) |
| Radius | .250 inch |
| Compatible Frames | JEM frames, 2011 High-Cap STI frames |
| Frame Type | High-cut frames (requires blending) |
The EGW JEM Beavertail is compatible with all JEM frames and 2011 High-Cap STI pistol frames. It's designed specifically for high-cut frames and will require blending to achieve a proper fit. If your frame is not a JEM or STI High-Cap model, compatibility is not guaranteed.
This grip safety arrives oversized in critical areas to allow custom fitting. Blending to your specific frame is standard work for a gunsmith or experienced builder. If you're comfortable with hand-fitting precision parts, you can do it yourself, but professional fitting is recommended for best results.
The oversized dimensions let you fit the safety to your frame rather than forcing your frame to accommodate the part. This gives you precise control over the final fit and ensures the beavertail properly fills the gap in your frame with positive engagement.
You receive the stainless steel grip safety with a reamed pin hole (.158 inch) and .250-inch radius, ready for fitting and installation. No additional components are included.
