EGW
The EGW 4 Caliber Checker is a straightforward quality-control tool for reloaders and practical shooters who load for multiple handgun calibers. This single checker gauges four of the most common competition and defensive rounds—9mm, .38 Super, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP—so you can verify ammunition is in spec before match day or carry. Out-of-spec rounds invite feeding problems, jams, and misfires that cost points in a match or worse in a critical moment; this tool catches those issues at the bench.
Built from machined aluminum, the checker features precision-bored holes for each caliber, machined using the same Clymer reamers that set the standard for reloading dies. That manufacturing process ensures the holes are accurate references—you're not guessing whether your ammo is within acceptable dimensions. Simply drop a loaded round into the appropriate hole and you'll immediately know if it's safe to fire.
For reloaders working across multiple calibers, especially those competing in IPSC, USPSA, or other practical shooting sports, this compact multi-caliber approach beats keeping four separate gauges on the bench. It's the kind of detail-oriented gear that separates match-ready ammo from ammunition that merely goes bang.
| Calibers Checked | 9mm, .38 Super, .40 S&W, .45 ACP |
| Material | Machined aluminum |
| Manufacturer | EGW |
This checker is bored for 9mm, .38 Super, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP—the four most popular handgun rounds in practical shooting competition.
Yes. The checker works on any loaded round in the supported calibers, whether reloaded or factory ammunition. It's a simple way to verify a round will chamber and feed reliably.
This is a case gauge or chamber checker—it verifies overall loaded-round dimensions fit within safe parameters. It's a quality-control step reloaders use to catch out-of-spec ammo before it goes downrange.
The product is the aluminum checker tool itself with the four caliber-specific holes bored into it. No additional components or caliber conversions are included.
