Dewey
The Dewey 13" Rod Guide for .30 caliber is a chamber protector that replaces your bolt during rifle cleaning, keeping bore solvents and abrasives away from your action, trigger, and magazine. If you're running a long varmint scope or target scope with a narrow tube, this extended-length guide gives you the clearance you need to work the rod smoothly without bumping glass or turrets—a problem that catches a lot of shooters off guard when they upgrade to heavier optics.
The guide's aluminum collar is built to handle repeated use without wearing out, and the brass adjustment pin threads in and out for quick customization to your rifle's action length. No tools needed; just hand-adjust to fit. The rubber O-ring seal works the real magic here: it contains solvent and debris, protecting internal parts from contamination while you push patches and brushes down the bore. Because the guide replaces your bolt entirely, you get full, unobstructed access to the chamber—essential when you're doing a thorough cleaning after a range session or hunt.
Use this with a cleaning rod that's 13" longer than your barrel. If you're running a shorter scope or need better overall hand clearance, Dewey's 10" rod guide is another option, but for longer-tube scopes—especially in the varmint and precision rifle world—the extra 3 inches of rod extension makes a real difference in ergonomics and safety.
| Rod Length | 13" |
| Caliber | .30 |
| Material (Collar) | Aluminum |
| Adjustment Pin | Brass, threaded |
| Seal | Rubber O-ring |
Yes. Your cleaning rod must be 13" longer than your barrel length. The rod passes through the guide into the chamber, so measure accordingly when selecting or purchasing a rod.
The threaded brass adjustment pin allows you to customize the fit to your rifle's action length by hand. It's not meant to switch between rifles with very different action lengths, but it does compensate for minor variations.
The O-ring keeps bore solvent, oil, and debris from entering your action, trigger group, and magazine during cleaning. This prevents contamination and keeps internal parts clean and functioning properly.
The 13" guide provides extra clearance with longer scopes—particularly long varmint and target scopes. If you're running a shorter or medium-length scope, the 10" guide may be sufficient and easier to maneuver.
