Dead Air
The Dead Air Xemax Muzzle Brake is a purpose-built recoil control solution for serious shooters running large-bore magnums and specialty calibers. Built on Dead Air's Xeno Mounting Technology, the Xemax uses a self-aligning taper system that delivers consistent bore alignment and repeatable accuracy shot after shot. This M18x1 .338LM model threads directly onto .338 Lapua Magnum barrels and is engineered to handle the extreme pressures and velocities these cartridges demand.
The single-port design vectors gas outward and upward, minimizing ground dust signature and noticeably reducing felt recoil—a critical advantage when you're pushing heavy magnums. The Xemax is equally effective running standalone or integrated into Dead Air's suppressor ecosystem: pair it with a Nomad 33 or Primal silencer for optimized big-bore suppression, or use the available adapter to retrofit it onto existing Primal silencers. Either way, the engineering is tuned to maximize suppressor life while maintaining shot-to-shot consistency that long-range hunting and precision shooting demand.
Like all Xemax models, this brake requires timing at installation. Dead Air includes the necessary shims so you can dial in proper alignment without guesswork. At just over 3 ounces and 2.06 inches long, the profile stays relatively compact for a magnum-class brake, keeping your rifle balanced and manageable in the field or at the bench.
| Thread Pattern | M18x1 |
| Caliber | .338 Lapua Magnum (.338LM), .338-378 Wby Mag, .33XC, 8.6 Blackout |
| Weight | 3.14 oz |
| Diameter | 1.125" |
| Length | 2.06" |
| Model | DA153 |
Yes. The Xemax muzzle brake integrates directly with Dead Air's Nomad 33 and Primal silencers for optimized suppressor performance and extended silencer life. If you own a Primal, you can also retrofit it with the Xemax brake using the available adapter.
Yes, this brake requires timing at installation. Dead Air includes the necessary shims with the brake so you can properly align the brake to your barrel without additional setup tools.
The Xemax DA153 is threaded M18x1 and optimized for .338 Lapua Magnum, as well as .338-378 Wby Mag, .33XC, and 8.6 Blackout. Verify your barrel's thread pitch and diameter before purchase.
The Xemax is built on Dead Air's Xeno Mounting Technology, which uses a self-aligning taper system for consistent bore alignment. The single-port design reduces recoil while minimizing ground dust, and the brake integrates seamlessly into Dead Air's suppressor lineup for shooters who want to add sound reduction later.
