Cutting Edge Bullets
Cutting Edge Bullets' MTAC line delivers precision rifle bullets engineered for target shooting at any distance. These .308 caliber, 182-grain solid copper projectiles are machined from lead-free material on a CNC Swiss lathe, making them a clean-burning choice for shooters who reload their own ammunition and care about barrel longevity and environmental impact. The single-feed design ensures reliable feeding through progressive reloaders and magazine systems.
What sets the MTAC apart is Cutting Edge's patented SealTite band—a ring machined slightly larger than bullet diameter that sits on the bearing surface. This feature tackles two persistent frustrations with monolithic copper bullets: it prevents gas blow-by that causes fliers downrange, and it dramatically reduces the copper fouling that typically accumulates inside your barrel over a shooting session. For serious reloaders running high volumes, that means less cleaning time and more consistent accuracy.
The ballistic profile is built for long-range work. With a G1 BC of .600 and G7 BC of .307, these bullets retain energy and resist wind deflection out to extended ranges. They require a 1:10" twist rate or faster to stabilize properly—a consideration when matching them to your rifle's bore. Each box contains 50 bullets ready to seat and load, giving you ample supply for a serious range session or load development ladder.
| Caliber | .308 |
| Weight | 182 grains |
| Ballistic Coefficient (G1) | .600 |
| Ballistic Coefficient (G7) | .307 |
| Overall Length (OAL) | 1.475" |
| Projection Length | .936" |
| Required Minimum Twist Rate | 1:10" or faster |
| Material | Solid copper (lead-free) |
| Bullet Style | Single feed |
| Count per Box | 50 |
These bullets require a 1:10" twist rate or faster to stabilize properly. If your rifle's barrel has a slower twist (like 1:12"), these may not shoot consistently. Check your rifle's specifications before ordering.
Cutting Edge designed the SealTite band specifically to reduce copper fouling compared to other monolithic bullets. The band prevents gas blow-by and creates a better seal, which decreases the amount of copper deposited on barrel walls during firing.
Cutting Edge markets the MTAC line exclusively for target use at all ranges. They are optimized for precision and consistency rather than expansion on game.
The "single feed" designation refers to the bullet's design for reliable feeding through progressive reloaders and magazine systems. You can load them on any reloading press—single stage, turret, or progressive—though the single-feed design provides an advantage in automated or high-volume setups.
