Cutting Edge Bullets
The Cutting Edge MTH .308 165 gr HP rifle bullets are precision-engineered copper rounds built for hunters who demand consistent performance across all engagement distances. Machined from solid copper bar stock on a CNC lathe, these lead-free projectiles eliminate one variable in your reloading equation: inconsistent construction. Whether you're loading ammunition for whitetail at 100 yards or reaching out to 500+, the MTH's high ballistic coefficient and patented SealTite band work together to deliver the terminal performance serious hunters expect.
The SealTite band is where Cutting Edge's engineering pays dividends in the field. This slightly oversized engagement band prevents gas blow-by that causes fliers—a common frustration with monolithic bullets—while simultaneously reducing the copper fouling your rifle barrel accumulates. That means cleaner shooting and fewer variables between shots. When the MTH impacts game, it doesn't mushroom in the traditional sense; instead, it fractures after 1–2 inches of penetration, shedding 3–4 petals that radiate 2–3 inches outward from the primary wound channel. The result is the kind of trauma that puts animals down cleanly.
These bullets will expand reliably down to 1600 fps, giving you a genuine effective-range floor for hunting applications. They demand a twist rate of 1:10" or faster to stabilize properly, so verify your barrel before loading. Each box contains 50 rounds, giving you a solid foundation for a full hunting season's worth of practice and field loads.
| Caliber | .308 |
| Weight | 165 gr |
| Bullet Type | Hollow Point (HP) |
| Material | Lead-free solid copper |
| Count | 50 per box |
| Minimum Twist Rate | 1:10" or faster |
| Minimum Expansion Velocity | 1600 fps |
Cutting Edge specifies a minimum twist rate of 1:10" or faster to properly stabilize these bullets. Check your rifle's barrel twist before loading to ensure reliable accuracy.
The SealTite band is slightly larger than caliber diameter and seals the bore to prevent gas blow-by, which eliminates fliers and reduces copper fouling—a common downside of monolithic bullet designs.
The MTH fractures after 1–2 inches of penetration, shedding 3–4 petals that break away from the main wound channel and radiate outward 2–3 inches, creating significant trauma.
The MTH reliably expands down to 1600 fps, giving hunters a meaningful effective-range floor for hunting applications.
