The Cimarron 1894 CA2903 26" rifle in .38-55 Winchester is a faithful recreation of one of America's most celebrated lever-action designs—the original Winchester Model 1894 that defined American hunting and frontier life. If you're drawn to classic lever guns with authentic period character, solid handling, and the nostalgic appeal of Old West heritage, this is a rifle that delivers genuine craftsmanship alongside real-world hunting capability in a historically significant cartridge.
Cimarron Firearms has built its reputation on building faithful reproductions of iconic American rifles, and the 1894 is the crown jewel. The 26" barrel strikes a balance between sight radius and overall length, making it manageable in thick brush yet stable for deliberate shots at distance. The .38-55 Winchester is a black-powder-era cartridge with modern performance in the right hands—a nostalgic choice for hunters who value historical authenticity as much as field performance, and one of the original chamberings Browning specified for this design.
Lever-action rifles are timeless for a reason: they're fast to operate, intuitive to carry, and built on proven mechanics. The 1894 platform remains relevant for hunters tackling medium game across varied terrain, and its compact profile makes it a natural choice for hunting in timber, fields, or open country where you need reliability and quick follow-up capability. Whether you're a lever-gun enthusiast, a historical rifle collector, or a hunter looking for something that bridges old-school reliability with genuine hunting utility, the Cimarron 1894 in .38-55 Winchester offers authenticity without compromise.

The .38-55 Winchester is one of the original cartridges Browning designed for the 1894 rifle, introduced in the 1880s before the .30-30 became dominant. It remains a legitimate choice for medium game hunting in appropriate conditions and distances. Availability of factory ammunition and modern handloading data is more limited than common cartridges, so confirm sourcing before purchase if you plan to hunt regularly.
The Cimarron 1894 is built as a functional rifle. Hunters and shooters do use lever guns in this caliber in the field, though the .38-55 cartridge is best suited to experienced shooters familiar with its ballistics and limitations compared to modern loads. It's equally at home in a collection of historically significant American rifles.
The Cimarron 1894 prioritizes historical accuracy and authentic aesthetics over modern ergonomic refinements. It handles and operates like the original Browning design—which is exactly the appeal. Modern tactical or speed-focused lever guns offer different advantages; this rifle's strength lies in its heritage, balance, and proven mechanical simplicity.
