Brownells
The Brownells Wool Bore Mop 20 Gauge 3 Pack is a time-tested cleaning accessory built for shooters who want thorough, efficient bore maintenance. Whether you're breaking in a new shotgun, performing routine post-range cleaning, or running annual preservation on a safe queen, wool mops are a workhorse in any gun cleaning kit. This three-pack gives you spares so you're never caught short, and at 20 gauge they fit the bore diameter of your shotgun precisely for proper contact and coverage.
Wool's natural properties make it ideal for bore cleaning. The material holds cleaning solvents and oils generously, which means you get better saturation and coverage with fewer passes down the barrel. The inherent elasticity of wool also lets the mop conform naturally to the rifling and bore walls, ensuring you reach nooks and grooves that tighter patches might miss. That conformability is especially useful in shotgun bores, where smooth or rifled surfaces benefit from a mop that adapts rather than scrubs.
The brass shank and coupling are looped and twisted to spec—they're engineered not to catch, bind, or scratch the bore as you push and pull the mop during cleaning cycles. This detail matters: a careless cleaning rod setup can inflict wear faster than shooting does. Brownells wool mops respect your barrel while doing the work.
Keep one mop wet with your bore cleaner of choice for the scrubbing phase, swap to a dry one for the final pass, and reach for the oil-soaked mop for corrosion protection. The three-pack makes rotation and maintenance simple, and buying in bulk is more economical than single units.
| Gauge | 20 |
| Quantity | 3 pack |
| Material | Virgin wool with brass shank and coupling |
Yes, if you own a 20 gauge shotgun. These mops are sized to match 20 gauge bore dimensions. If you shoot a different gauge (12, 16, 28, or .410), you'll need the corresponding gauge mop.
Wool mops work with standard gun cleaning solvents and oils. Match your cleaner to the fouling type and finish of your barrel; the wool will hold and apply whatever liquid you choose.
A three-pack lets you dedicate one mop to wet cleaner, one to dry passes, and one to oil—without stopping to wash mops mid-session. It's also more economical per unit than buying singles.
