Brownells
If you've removed a rear sight from your rifle or shotgun and are left staring at an empty dovetail slot, a decorative blank is the simple, professional solution. The Brownells Rifle Decorative Slot Blank in black is a steel infill designed to fill that gap—literally and aesthetically. Rather than leaving raw metal or a hole visible on an otherwise finished rifle, this blank presents a clean, intentional appearance that complements the barrel contour and maintains the gun's overall look.
Built from steel and finished in polished blue, the blank features a distinctive diamond shape with milled edges that blend naturally into your rifle's profile instead of looking like a patch or repair. It's sized to fit standard .375" x 60° dovetails, the most common sight dovetail on rifles and shotguns, without requiring fitting or modification. If you want to personalize it further, the polished surface provides enough real estate for custom engraving—a thoughtful touch for a rifle with sentimental or collection value.
This is the kind of detail that separates a well-maintained rifle from one that looks neglected. Whether you've upgraded to a modern optic and removed iron sights, you're building a specialized rifle, or you simply want to fill an empty slot on a gun you're refurbishing, this blank delivers a finished, intentional appearance without fuss or custom gunsmithing.
