Birchwood Casey
Birchwood Casey Muzzle Magic 77 bore solvent is a water-soluble cleaner purpose-built for muzzleloaders and blackpowder rifles. If you shoot traditional muzzleloading firearms, you know that blackpowder fouling accumulates fast and can degrade accuracy if left unchecked. No. 77 cuts through that residue efficiently, dissolving powder buildup and loosening metal traces so they wipe away cleanly. It's formulated to work safely alongside natural lubricants, which means it fits seamlessly into your existing muzzleloader maintenance routine without chemical conflicts.
The 16 oz. bottle comes with a flip-top dispenser—a practical design touch that eliminates spill and mess when you're at the bench or in the field. After you've run patches soaked in No. 77 through your bore and wiped it dry, Birchwood Casey recommends following up with their Barricade Rust Protection to seal metal surfaces against moisture and corrosion. That two-step approach—solvent, then protection—is the backbone of keeping a muzzleloader in reliable working order.
Whether you're a traditional blackpowder hunter, a historical reenactor, or someone who shoots percussion caps and loose powder for the craft of it, bore maintenance is non-negotiable. Muzzle Magic 77 handles the hard part—dissolving the fouling that generic gun solvents struggle with—so you can focus on the shooting.
