Bill Lewis Baits
The Bill Lewis Rattle Trap 3/4 Natural Orange Belly is a classic lipless crankbait designed to cover water fast and trigger aggressive strikes. This is the bait that built the lipless crankbait reputation—a proven choice for bass anglers who want a lure that works in multiple situations without fussing with technique. Whether you're working shallow grass, suspended structure, or deep bottom, the Rattle Trap delivers noise and flash that get fish's attention quickly.
What makes the Rattle Trap effective is its versatility. Cast it shallow and crank steadily to draw strikes from aggressive bass, or let it sink to deeper structure and retrieve uphill along points and humps, letting it bang against rocks and debris to create commotion. The Natural Orange Belly color gives you a realistic baitfish profile with just enough flash to stand out without looking unnatural. The internal rattle generates the sonic signature that draws fish from distance.
This is a workhorse lure, not a specialty tool. Throw it when you need to eliminate water fast and find active fish. The 3/4-ounce size casts well on light to medium tackle and reaches the depths where bass hunt. If you fish moving baits, grass beds, or structure fishing, this is a confidence bait that's earned its place in tackle boxes for decades.

Cast and retrieve steadily through shallow grass beds and structure. The lure's flash and rattle trigger reaction strikes from bass holding in cover. This is the classic presentation and one of the Rattle Trap's most productive methods.
Yes. Allow the bait to sink to the bottom near structure like points or humps, then retrieve uphill. As it rises and contacts rocks and debris, the noise and erratic movement attract bass from deeper areas.
This color combines a natural baitfish appearance with an orange belly that provides contrast and visibility in a range of water conditions, making it a versatile choice for multiple situations.
We don't have specific tackle recommendations in our data—that's a conversation for our counter crew or your preferred rod setup. The 3/4-ounce weight is a standard size that works well on light to medium casting gear.
