Betts Tackle
The Betts Pop Hop is a classic popper fly tied on a size 10 Mustad hook—a reliable topwater pattern for bass, pike, and panfish that demands attention on the water. Built with a cork body and soft, flexible legs in chartreuse and black, this fly creates the commotion and silhouette that triggers aggressive strikes in shallow cover and along vegetation. Whether you're fishing stillwater or working a current, the Pop Hop's painted eyes and quality gloss finish make it a go-to pattern for fly anglers who want proven results without overthinking it.
The soft legs give you natural movement in the water and respond to even subtle strip patterns, while the cork body floats reliably and absorbs impact on the cast. Size 10 sits in that sweet spot for topwater work—substantial enough to throw a good profile and create disturbance, but still manageable on standard bass and pike fly rods. The chartreuse-and-black color scheme offers high visibility and contrast in a range of conditions, from clear water to low-light situations.
If you're building a topwater box or restocking proven patterns, the Betts Pop Hop delivers the quality and action that keep anglers coming back to it season after season.

The Pop Hop is effective for bass, pike, and panfish—any species that responds to surface disturbance and topwater activity. The size 10 is especially well-suited to largemouth bass and pike in shallow, weedy water.
A size 10 popper works well on standard bass and pike fly outfits—typically a 5-weight to 8-weight rod paired with a floating or bass taper fly line. The exact setup depends on your target species and casting distance preferences.
Yes. The cork body is designed to float, making it a true topwater pattern that sits on the surface and creates commotion when stripped.
The soft legs move naturally in the water, responding to your strip pattern and creating lifelike action that attracts strikes. They also absorb some impact on the cast, helping the fly land softer.
