Betts Tackle
Betts balsa spring floats in 3/4" size deliver the kind of reliable, finesse presentation that matters when you're targeting selective fish in moving water. Unlike plastic bobbers that can feel clunky and spook wary gamefish, these slip floats are hand-crafted from premium balsa wood—a material that's been trusted by anglers for generations because it's naturally buoyant, responsive, and tough enough to handle repeated use without cracking or degrading. This 18-count assorted pack in bright colors gives you a working selection for different light conditions and water clarity, so you're covered whether you're fishing clear streams, overcast days, or morning and evening low-light sessions.
Balsa floats excel in drift-fishing scenarios where a gentle, natural presentation is key. The material's inherent softness means less resistance when a fish takes, translating to better bite detection and fewer missed opportunities. Whether you're float-fishing for steelhead, trout, or panfish in rivers and creeks, these 3/4" floats sit at a sweet spot—large enough to handle modest currents and split shot, compact enough for technical presentations in tight cover. The spring attachment system keeps your float secure while allowing quick adjustments to fishing depth without retying.
Carrying a diverse assortment of bright-colored floats eliminates the guesswork in the field. When conditions shift or a pattern isn't working, you can switch colors in seconds rather than fumbling through a tackle box searching for the right option. For float anglers who value durability, visibility, and that subtle touch that separates consistent days from frustrating ones, balsa is simply a better material than plastic—it reads the water better, feels more responsive in your hand, and lasts longer with proper care.
| Float Size | 3/4" oval |
| Material | Premium balsa wood |
| Count per Pack | 18 |
| Colors | Assorted brite |
| Attachment Type | Spring slip |
Balsa is naturally buoyant, won't crack under repeated use, and provides a more responsive feel when drifting. Plastic bobbers are cheaper but tend to degrade and become brittle over time, especially in UV light. Balsa also offers a softer presentation that spooky fish find less alarming.
These floats are well-suited for float-fishing rivers and creeks—trout, steelhead, and panfish respond well to the gentle presentation. They work especially well in moderate current where you need enough buoyancy to suspend bait or small lures while drifting naturally downstream.
Water clarity and light conditions change throughout the day and from one location to another. Bright brite colors are highly visible in most situations, but having an assortment lets you quickly match visibility to overcast skies, early morning, evening, or clear-water conditions without carrying multiple single-color packs.
The spring attachment slides onto your line and grips securely without requiring a knot. To adjust fishing depth, simply slide the float up or down your main line until the split shot suspends your bait at the desired depth below the float. Quick and repeatable in the field.
