Bergara
The Berger Target Bullets 22 Cal (0.224" Dia) 70gr VLD HPBT are precision rifle bullets engineered for shooters chasing accuracy at distance. Built around a secant ogive design, these match-grade projectiles reduce drag in flight, which translates to flatter trajectories, less wind deflection, and better velocity retention downrange—qualities that make them a natural choice for competitive long-range shooting and precision rifle work where every tenth of an inch matters.
Berger's VLD (Very Low Drag) Target line has earned its reputation across competitive shooting disciplines, and these 70-grain rounds in .224" diameter maintain that standard. The bullets feature Berger's J4 Precision jacket, built to exacting standards for consistency from round to round. That uniformity is critical when you're hand-loading ammunition and looking to tighten groups or dial in ballistics data you can trust across a string of shots.
Reloaders running 22 centerfire cartridges—whether that's a .223 Remington, .22-250, or similar platform—will appreciate the aerodynamic profile and track record of these bullets. They're popular for single-shot applications where you can seat them close to or touching the rifling, though some rifles may prefer more clearance. If you're building match ammo or load development ammunition for a precision rifle, these Bergers give you a proven platform to work from.
| Caliber | 22 Cal (.224" Diameter) |
| Weight | 70 Grains |
| Bullet Type | VLD HPBT (Hollow Point Boat Tail) |
| Design | Secant Ogive |
| Jacket | J4 Precision |
These .224" diameter bullets work in rifles chambered for cartridges like .223 Remington, .22-250 Remington, and other .22 centerfire platforms. Always verify bore diameter and bullet fit in your specific rifle before loading.
Yes. These VLD bullets are commonly loaded with the bullet touching or very close to the rifling in single-shot applications. Some rifles may prefer more clearance—testing and working up loads carefully is essential.
The secant ogive design and boat tail configuration minimize drag, resulting in flatter trajectories, reduced wind drift, and better velocity retention downrange—all critical factors for precision at distance.
The J4 Precision jacket is manufactured to strict tolerances, ensuring consistent bullet-to-bullet performance. This uniformity is essential for reloaders developing accurate ammunition and reliable ballistics data.
