Ballistic Advantage
The Ballistic Advantage Performance Series 16" 5.56 NATO barrel is a quality replacement or upgrade barrel for AR-15 builds that balances reliability, accuracy, and practical handling. Built from 4150 chrome moly vanadium steel and finished with a durable QPQ coating, this barrel comes paired with a low-profile gas block—a practical combination that saves you the extra trip to source and fit both parts separately. The Hanson profile and carbine-length gas system represent a proven middle ground: responsive enough for duty or competition use, forgiving enough for hunting and general shooting without excessive wear on bolt carriers and receivers.
Whether you're assembling an AR from the ground up, refreshing an existing platform, or building a dedicated 5.56 upper, a quality barrel is where accuracy begins. The threaded muzzle gives you flexibility to add a brake, flash hider, or suppressor to suit your mission. The included low-pro gas block keeps your sight picture and handling clean—no bulky iron sight towers to work around if you're running a red dot or magnified optic.
This is straightforward, purpose-built hardware. No marketing theater, just a barrel that will shoot and a gas block that will cycle reliably across a wide range of ammunition and environmental conditions. It's the kind of piece you select because you know the maker's track record, not because of a slick name.

Yes. This barrel is mil-spec compatible and will fit any standard AR-15 receiver with standard components. You'll need a barrel nut and armorers wrench to install it, along with a headspace gauge to verify proper fit—critical for safety and accuracy.
The low-profile gas block is included with the barrel. Installation will require that you have the proper tools and ideally some familiarity with AR-15 assembly, or access to a qualified gunsmith.
A 16" carbine is effective for 5.56 at hunting and defensive distances well beyond 300 yards, though velocity and energy drop compared to longer barrels. For precision work past that distance, a longer barrel or higher-velocity cartridge becomes advantageous.
The threaded muzzle accepts standard suppressors and muzzle devices designed for 5.56 NATO. Verify the thread pitch and diameter with your suppressor manufacturer before assembly.
