Athlon Optics
The Athlon Optics Talos BTR Gen2 is a first focal plane rifle scope built for shooters who refuse to compromise on precision without breaking the bank. At 4–14x44mm with a 30mm tube, this FFP scope delivers true-to-reticle aiming across all magnification levels—a critical advantage for long-range hunting, precision rifle work, and tactical applications. The illuminated APLR 10 MOA reticle remains usable in low light and bright sun, while the fully multi-coated optics cut glare and boost contrast in real-world hunting conditions.
What sets the Gen2 apart is the addition of a precision zero stop on exposed turrets, letting you dial with confidence and return to zero without guesswork. The 0.25 MOA click value gives you fine adjustment control, and the 65 MOA of elevation and windage travel handles moderate to extended-range holds. Side-focus parallax adjustment (10 yards to infinity) keeps the image crisp whether you're shooting from a bench or a field position. Nitrogen purging and a waterproof construction mean this scope will perform in wet and cold without fog or failure.
The Talos BTR Gen2 bridges the gap between budget-friendly and capable—aircraft-grade aluminum construction, proven tracking repeatability, and a field of view that runs from 27.2 feet at 4x down to 7.9 feet at 14x. If you're equipping a hunting rifle, an AR build, or a precision bolt gun and want optics that won't demand a second mortgage, this scope earns its place at a serious price-to-performance ratio.

In a first focal plane scope like this Talos BTR Gen2, the reticle sits in front of the magnifying lens. That means the reticle scales with magnification—it looks the same size relative to your target whether you're at 4x or 14x. This makes range estimation and holdover calculations consistent across all power settings, which is why serious long-range shooters prefer FFP designs. Second focal plane scopes keep the reticle at a fixed size, which only works accurately at one specific magnification.
Yes. The Talos BTR Gen2 is a 30mm tube scope, so it will fit any standard 30mm scope ring—whether you're mounting it on an AR-15, a bolt-action hunting rifle, or other platform. Make sure your mounting system accepts 30mm rings and is properly torqued per manufacturer guidance.
The precision zero stop allows you to dial up from zero and then return directly to zero without counting clicks or losing track of your adjustments. Once your rifle is sighted in, you can dial elevation for distance and always come back to the exact zero reference point—a huge advantage in the field or on the range.
Yes, the APLR 10 MOA reticle is illuminated and etched into the glass. This means you get a backup: even if illumination fails, the etched reticle remains visible. The illumination feature requires a battery (specifics on battery type and life should be verified with the manufacturer), making the scope usable in dawn, dusk, and overcast conditions.
