Athlon Optics
The Athlon Optics Talos BTR Gen2 1-4x24mm is a versatile low-power variable optic built for shooters who want speed and flexibility without the price tag of premium glass. Whether you're running an AR-15, a short-range hunting rifle, or anything in between, this second focal plane scope delivers the optical performance and ease of use that make it an honest choice for tactical, hunting, and sport shooting applications. At 1x magnification you get a wide field of view for rapid target acquisition; crank it to 4x and you've got enough glass for mid-range engagements where precision matters.
The illuminated ATMR6 MOA reticle is calibrated for .223/5.56 NATO with 68/69-grain BTHP ammunition, making it a natural fit for modern sporting rifles. The reticle design works well across a range of standard loads, so you're not locked into one load if your needs shift. The scope's construction—aircraft-grade aluminum tube, fully multi-coated optics, and nitrogen purging—means it'll handle field use and weather without flinching. Side parallax adjustment lets you dial out image shift as range changes, and capped turrets keep you from accidentally bumping zero during transport or rough handling.
At 16.8 ounces and built on a standard 30mm tube, it integrates cleanly into most modern rifle setups. The eye relief range of 4.5 to 3.5 inches gives you comfortable shooting position flexibility, and the 110-foot field of view at 100 yards keeps your target in frame even when you're hunting in timber or moving between positions. If you're building a capable rifle without breaking the bank, the Talos BTR Gen2 rewards you with solid glass, smart engineering, and the kind of reliability that shows up when it counts.

Yes. The Talos BTR Gen2 1-4x24 is built to work equally well on an AR-15, a short-range bolt-action hunting rifle, or any modern rifle platform using a standard 30mm mount. Its 1x magnification makes it fast for close work, while the 4x top end handles hunting ranges effectively.
The illuminated ATMR6 MOA reticle is optimized for .223/5.56 NATO ammunition loaded with 68/69-grain bullets. It remains compatible with other loads, though you may need minor hold adjustments depending on your specific ammunition and velocity.
In a second focal plane scope, the reticle size stays the same regardless of magnification—it doesn't change relative to your target. This means the reticle subtensions (MOA measurements) are only accurate at maximum magnification (4x in this case). At lower powers, your reticle appears smaller relative to the target, which some shooters prefer for quick target acquisition.
