Athlon Optics
The Athlon Optics Helos BTR GEN2 2-12X42 is a first focal plane rifle scope built to deliver clear glass and reliable performance without the premium price tag often attached to long-range optics. This illuminated scope pairs a versatile 2-12x magnification range with a 42mm objective lens, making it equally at home on a hunting rifle or at the range pushing distance. The scope's fully multi-coated lens system and XPL coatings ensure light transmission and contrast in varied lighting conditions, from dawn glassing to overcast days in the field.
What sets the Helos BTR apart is its practical feature set for shooters who demand precision. The first focal plane reticle (AHMR2 MOA pattern) stays proportional across the magnification range, so holdovers and wind calls remain consistent whether you're at 2x or 12x. Locking elevation and windage turrets keep your zero locked in once dialed, eliminating the worry of accidental adjustment during transport or in the field. Direct dial functionality lets you quickly make corrections without fumbling through nested menus, and the zero stop feature lets you return to your zero reference with confidence.
The 30mm tube provides plenty of adjustment range for long-range work, and the illuminated reticle adds versatility in low-light hunting situations or when working with darker targets. This is a scope that prioritizes function over flash—the kind of optic that earns trust through consistent performance rather than marketing noise. Whether you're building a mid-range hunting rig or a precision rifle for 500+ yard shooting, the Helos BTR delivers the glass quality and mechanical reliability serious shooters expect.

In a first focal plane (FFP) scope, the reticle sits in front of the magnification system, so the reticle size changes with magnification. This means your holdover marks and wind dots remain accurate at any power you choose to dial. For hunters and long-range shooters working at variable distances, FFP reticles make your aiming points reliable whether you're glassing at 2x or shooting at 12x magnification.
Yes. The 2-12x42 magnification range covers hunting applications and mid-range to long-distance shooting, and the locking turrets, zero stop, and precise AHMR2 MOA reticle are equally valued by hunters and precision riflemen who need confidence in their adjustments.
