Magnus Bullet
Magnus Bullet cast rounds are a solid choice for .45 caliber handloaders who want reliable, affordable ammunition for cowboy action shooting, practical pistol competitions, or general range work. These .452" diameter, 200-grain round-nose flat-point (RNFP) bullets come in a 500-count box, giving you plenty of rounds to load without constantly restocking. The alloy composition—91% lead, 4% tin, and 5% antimony—is engineered to handle velocities up to 1200 FPS while resisting the leading and fouling that can plague softer cast bullets in modern firearms.
What sets Magnus Bullet apart is their manufacturing process. These are cast from virgin alloys rather than recycled scrap, which means more consistent quality and fewer surface defects that can cause accuracy issues or feeding problems. The harder alloy also means they won't shatter on impact with steel targets, making them suitable for shooters who reload for both paper and reactive target practice.
If you're loading for .45 ACP, .45 Colt, or another .452" cartridge, the round-nose flat-point profile offers a classic look and reliable feeding. The 200-grain weight sits in a sweet spot for moderate power levels—you get decent velocity without excessive felt recoil, and the bullet retains enough mass for consistent terminal performance at typical handgun ranges.
| Caliber | .45 |
| Bullet Diameter | .452" |
| Weight | 200 grains |
| Style | Round-Nose Flat-Point (RNFP) |
| Count | 500 |
| Material | Cast lead alloy (91% lead, 4% tin, 5% antimony) |
| Max Velocity | 1200 FPS |
Magnus Bullet .45 caliber rounds will load into .45 ACP, .45 Colt, and other cartridges that use .452" diameter bullets. Always verify your specific firearm's chamber and consult your reloading manual for safe load data before assembling ammunition.
Yes. The alloy hardness means these bullets resist shattering on impact with steel, unlike softer cast bullets. This makes them a practical choice for indoor ranges or shooters who use reactive steel target systems.
Magnus uses virgin alloy and harder composition (91/4/5 lead-tin-antimony) specifically to minimize leading at typical handgun velocities. You should still clean regularly, especially if shooting near the upper end of velocity recommendations, but leading shouldn't be a chronic problem in well-maintained firearms.
A 500-count box represents a full reloading session for many shooters, or enough to practice and compete without running out mid-range trip. It's also easier to store and manage than multiple smaller boxes.
