Winchester
The Winchester SXP Youth Field 20ga pump-action shotgun is purpose-built for younger and smaller-framed shooters who want a genuinely scaled firearm, not just a shortened version of an adult gun. At 22 inches with a 12-inch length of pull, this 20-gauge delivers the handling and recoil profile that lets new shooters focus on fundamentals—not fighting the gun. Whether you're introducing a kid to upland hunting, running clay courses, or building a foundation in shotgun technique, the SXP Youth is designed to fit right from day one.
Winchester engineered the SXP platform around reliability and intuitive operation. The aluminum-alloy receiver and hard-chrome-plated chamber work together to handle 3-inch shells without flinching, and the pump action cycles smoothly—critical when you're teaching someone the basics. Three Invector-Plus choke tubes let you adapt to different hunting scenarios or range work without buying multiple barrels. The brass bead front sight is simple and effective; there's no guesswork when you're lining up a shot.
Comfort and fit matter enormously with youth shotguns. The Grade I walnut stock with satin finish feels substantial in young hands, and Winchester includes length-of-pull spacers so the gun can grow with the shooter as they develop. At just over 6 pounds, it's light enough to carry all day but substantial enough to manage recoil predictably. The 5+1 magazine capacity (5 rounds of 2¾-inch shells) is plenty for hunting or sport shooting.
This is a shotgun that respects the learning curve and builds confidence through genuine fit and dependable performance.

Yes. The 20-gauge chambering, 12-inch length of pull, and lighter recoil profile make it an excellent teaching platform. The pump action is intuitive to learn, and the included length-of-pull spacers mean the gun can stay with a young shooter as they grow.
The Winchester SXP Youth Field handles both standard 2¾-inch shells and 3-inch magnum ammunition. The magazine holds up to 5 rounds of 2¾-inch shells.
The shotgun comes with three Invector-Plus choke tubes (Winchester proprietary). You can adjust your pattern and range by switching between them; other brands of Invector-Plus tubes are also compatible.
The 12-inch length of pull is designed for youth and smaller frames. Most adult shooters prefer a 13.5- to 14-inch length of pull. If an adult plans to use it, the adjustable spacers help somewhat, but a standard SXP or similar full-sized Winchester pump-action is a better fit for typical adult proportions.
