Wilson Combat
If you run a Colt Enhanced Series 80 1911 and find yourself fighting hammer bite or losing control during shooting, a Wilson Combat high-rise beavertail grip safety drop-in can transform your gun's handling and comfort. This aftermarket grip safety raises the tang and extends the beavertail to cover more of your hand web, giving you a higher grip and better purchase on the frame—exactly what competitive shooters and serious 1911 users have relied on for decades.
The appeal of a drop-in grip safety is simplicity: you're not sending your pistol to a gunsmith, and you can always return to stock condition by reinstalling the factory part. Wilson Combat engineered this one to work with either commander-style or bobbed spur hammers, covering the most common 1911 configurations. The blued finish matches the professional aesthetic 1911 shooters expect, and it's built to the same quality standards Wilson Combat applies across their entire 1911 component lineup.
One practical note: because 1911s vary slightly from gun to gun—even within the same model line—you may need to do some minor fitting work on the trigger engagement area of the beavertail to ensure smooth, reliable operation. This is normal for 1911 gunsmithing and not a sign of a defective part; it's simply the nature of modular 1911 design. If you're not comfortable with basic fitting, a gunsmith can handle it quickly.

Absolutely. This is a drop-in part that requires no permanent frame modifications, so you can reinstall your factory grip safety whenever you want.
Installation is straightforward, though due to natural variations in 1911 manufacturing, you may need to make slight adjustments to the beavertail's trigger engagement area for proper fit and operation. A gunsmith can handle this if you prefer professional fitting.
