The Weaver #45 Top Mount Base is a gloss-finish scope mounting solution engineered for older bolt-action rifles and vintage firearms. If you're working with a classic Springfield, Mauser, Marlin, or one of several other traditional actions, this detachable base provides the precision fit and rock-solid recoil management that serious shooters expect from Weaver's proven mounting system. The base is machined to tight tolerances and pairs with Weaver's detachable rings for a setup that won't shift or wander, even after years of hard use.

This is a platform for hunters and shooters restoring or building out older rifles where modern scope rails don't apply. Rather than hunt for obscure mounting solutions or settle for improvised fixes, the #45 gives you a purpose-built interface that respects both the rifle's integrity and the optic's performance. The gloss finish matches classic aesthetics while standing up to the outdoors.

Weaver bases are designed with a square-cut notch that partners with the cross bolt in Weaver detachable rings, locking your scope in place and resisting the forces of recoil. This engineering approach has held up for decades, and it remains one of the most dependable options for mounting glass on lever guns, bolt actions, and muzzleloaders of that era.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rifles does the Weaver #45 base fit?

The #45 is designed for a range of older bolt-action rifles and vintage firearms, including Springfield 03-A3 (front base), Mauser 98 Large Ring actions (including FN, HVA, and Swedish variants), Marlin 455, Weatherby rifles with FN actions, H&R 300/301/330/370 (pre-1973 models), and several others. Check your rifle's make and model against the compatibility list to confirm the correct configuration (front or rear base).

Will this base work with Weaver rings?

Yes. The #45 base is designed to pair with Weaver detachable rings, which use a square-cut notch that mates precisely with the cross bolt in the base for a secure, repeatable connection.

Is this a front or rear base?

The #45 is available in both front and rear configurations depending on the rifle model. Most applications use the rear base; some rifles (like the Springfield 03-A3 and Modern Muzzleloading LK-93 Wolverine Legend) require front bases. Verify which you need for your specific rifle before ordering.

What does gloss finish mean?

Gloss finish is a smooth, reflective coating that provides both aesthetic appeal and corrosion resistance. It complements the look of vintage and classic rifles while protecting the steel underneath.
