Weatherby
The Weatherby Mark V Backcountry Guide in 7mm is a purpose-built rifle for hunters who refuse to compromise between power and packability. This right-handed short-barrel magnum combines Weatherby's legendary cartridge performance with genuine backcountry practicality—16 inches of carbon fiber barrel make it nimble in thick country and easy to suppress, while the short, rigid action cycles cleanly and controls recoil that would make lesser rifles punishing.
The Mark V Guide starts with a cerakote-finished graphite black receiver, bolt, and safety backed by Peak 44's Blacktooth carbon fiber stock. That's not surface decoration; the exposed carbon weave and olive-green sponge pattern accents signal that every component was chosen to shed weight without sacrificing strength. Factory-installed Spartan Precision gunsmithing adapters built into the stock open the door to ultra-lightweight accessories—think sling mounts, bipods, and other attachments engineered for backcountry hunters who count ounces.
Recoil management matters when you're carrying a magnum all day and need precise shot placement in the moment. The Accubrake ST muzzle brake significantly reduces felt recoil and muzzle rise, while the 3DHex recoil pad absorbs what the brake doesn't. Together, they make the 7mm Weatherby magnum genuinely shootable from field positions—prone, sitting, offhand—without the flinch that cost other hunters their biggest opportunities.
This is the rifle for the hunter who glasses from ridge to ridge, spotting and stalking in steep, remote terrain. It's light enough to stay with you when the miles add up, powerful enough to ethically take elk and other big game at distance, and finished ruggedly enough to handle weather and brush without babying.
