The TruGlo TGTG948DD FatBead fiber optic front sight brings precision aiming to shotguns, rifles, and handguns with a rugged, simple design that doesn't rely on batteries or electronics. The dual-color center—green and red fiber optics—lets you pick the contrast that works best for your lighting conditions and target, giving you versatility whether you're hunting in dense timber, shooting clay at the range, or working through low-light scenarios. The black body blends into most firearm profiles while that bright, high-visibility fiber optic core cuts through clutter and keeps your eye locked on the sight picture.
Fiber optic sights excel where traditional metal sights fall short: the fiber bundles capture and amplify available light, making the sight glow without batteries or adjustments. This TruGlo design is built on proven mechanics—the FatBead profile gives you a substantial, easy-to-see aiming point that doesn't require perfect eyesight or steady hands to pick up quickly. It's ideal for hunters who need fast target acquisition in variable light, shooters building a budget-friendly optics plan, or anyone who wants a reliable mechanical sight as a backup or primary solution.
Installation is straightforward for gunsmiths or experienced shooters; the 5-40 specification tells you the thread size, so confirm compatibility with your firearm's front sight base before ordering. Once mounted, the fiber optic sight requires zero maintenance—no batteries to replace, no adjustments to creep loose from recoil. You get durability and simplicity in one compact package.
| Model | TGTG948DD |
| Brand | TruGlo |
| Sight Type | Front Fiber Optic |
| Thread Size | 5-40 |
| Fiber Colors | Green and Red |
| Body Color | Black |
| Power Source | None (passive fiber optic) |
The 5-40 specification indicates the thread pitch and diameter. Confirm your firearm's front sight base uses a 5-40 thread before purchase; this is common on many rifle and shotgun platforms, but always verify with your gun's manual or a gunsmith if you're unsure.
The sight features both green and red fiber optics in the center, and the way they're arranged lets you choose which color provides the best contrast for your shooting environment and personal preference. You're not forced to use both simultaneously—pick whichever gives you the clearest sight picture.
No. Fiber optic sights are entirely passive—they capture ambient light and don't require batteries, electronics, or adjustments. Once installed, there's nothing to maintain or replace except when wear eventually demands it.
As a front sight, this TruGlo can coexist with optics mounted on your gun's receiver or rail, though your specific setup depends on your firearm's layout and whether you're running the sight as a primary aiming solution or a backup. Confirm clearance and co-witness height with your scope or red dot if you plan to use them together.
