Traditions
The Traditions Smackdown XR .50 Cal muzzleloading bullets with .45 Cal sabots are engineered for hunters and shooters who need extended effective range from their inline muzzleloaders. Built around a 250-grain polymer-tipped projectile, these saboted bullets deliver the velocity stability and accuracy needed to take down whitetail and mid-size game at distances where most traditional roundballs fall short. The polycarbonate tip design promotes predictable expansion while the flat base geometry supports consistent flight characteristics—especially important when you're stretching your shot beyond 100 yards.
What sets the Smackdown XR apart is the Ridgeback sabot system. The horizontal ribbing and deeper sabot cut work together to seal gas behind the projectile more effectively, reducing the velocity variance that ruins long-range accuracy. The improved seal also makes loading smoother, a real convenience when you're cycling rounds at the range or hunting in cold weather when sabots can stiffen. This combination of better gas seal and easier loading translates to tighter groups and more reliable performance.
Each pack contains 15 bullets and sabots, ready to load. Whether you're zeroing a new rifle, hunting from a stand, or pushing your muzzleloader's capability on an open-country hunt, the Smackdown XR gives you a proven platform to build your load around.

Yes. Each of the 15 bullets in the pack comes with a Ridgeback sabot, so you have everything you need to load and shoot.
Traditions designed the Smackdown XR for whitetail and mid-size game hunting, particularly at extended ranges where the polymer tip and flat base geometry help maintain velocity and accuracy.
The horizontal ribbing and deeper sabot cut provide a better seal around the bullet, reducing gas leak and velocity variation. This tighter seal also makes loading easier and contributes to improved accuracy downrange.
