Traditions
The Traditions Pursuit XT 50 Cal Muzzleloader is a mid-level black powder rifle built for hunters who want genuine 200+ yard accuracy without unnecessary weight or complexity. Chambered in 50 caliber and fitted with a 26-inch Chromoly steel barrel finished in Cerakote, this muzzleloader balances the durability you need in the field with a trim 5.75-pound profile that won't exhaust you on a long stalk. Whether you're new to percussion ignition or upgrading from an older inline, the Pursuit XT delivers the features that actually matter: a trigger system that breaks clean, a breech plug that handles both loose and pelletized powder, and the ergonomics to load and shoot confidently in any condition.
The heart of the Pursuit XT is its Elite XT trigger system—a precision mechanism with a rebounding hammer, manual cross-block safety, and the kind of predictable break that rewards good marksmanship. The VAPR 1:24 twist rifling is engineered to stabilize modern projectiles and expand your bullet options; Traditions pairs it with 209 shotgun primer ignition for reliable, consistent ignition shot after shot. The Accelerator breech plug accepts both granular and pelletized black powder, so you're not locked into one loading method, and the Speed Load system promotes repeatable groups by simplifying the charge sequence.
Handling and loading feel genuinely thought-through. The wider forend gives you a natural grip and hand position, while the Quick-T ramrod handle works as a palm saver and T-handle in one—the removable brass jag lets it serve as a cleaning rod when you need it. Drilled and tapped for a scope, pre-fitted with Williams fiber-optic sights, and complete with sling swivel studs, the Pursuit XT arrives ready to go to the range or into the woods. The black synthetic stock stands up to weather and rough handling, and the quick-relief recoil pad softens the report without bulk.
Built on an LT-1 alloy frame and backed by a dual safety system—rebounding hammer plus manual trigger block—the Pursuit XT is engineered to run hard and stay safe. At this price point and feature set, it's a genuine step up from entry-level inlines, and it earns its reputation as one of the most capable mid-tier muzzleloaders in the market.

The Pursuit XT fires 209 shotgun primers and works with both loose black powder and pelletized powder, thanks to the Accelerator breech plug. This flexibility lets you load to your preference and choose the charge level that works best for your hunting or range sessions.
The VAPR 1:24 twist rifling is specifically designed to stabilize modern conical projectiles, expanding your bullet options. Traditions recommends trying the Smackdown Carnivore 250 grain bullet in this rifle.
The Pursuit XT ships complete with Williams fiber-optic sights, sling swivel studs, the Quick-T ramrod handle, and a quick-relief recoil pad. You'll need to supply black powder (loose or pellets), 209 primers, and bullets; a shooting/cleaning kit is also recommended for field maintenance.
Traditions rates the Pursuit XT for 200+ yard accuracy, which puts it well ahead of typical entry-level inlines. Actual accuracy depends on your powder charge, bullet choice, and trigger control, but the combination of the Elite XT trigger, 1:24 twist, and lightweight barrel design is engineered to reward good shooting form.
