Traditions
The Traditions Deerhunter is a .50 caliber flintlock muzzleloader built for hunters who want straightforward, reliable performance without the complexity or cost of modern ignition systems. If you're drawn to traditional blackpowder hunting—whether you're new to flintlock or returning to it—this rifle delivers the accuracy and handling you need in the field. The 24-inch octagonal barrel is the heart of the design: it's moderately lightweight for all-day carry, features a 1:48-inch twist rate optimized to shoot full-bore bullets, saboted projectiles, and patched round balls with equal competence, and gives you the velocity and energy required for ethical deer hunting at practical ranges.
Balance and control matter in the field, and the Deerhunter achieves both. The choice of synthetic or wood furniture keeps the rifle nimble and durable, while the crisp hunting trigger breaks cleanly when you need it. The non-slip recoil pad absorbs the snap of a flintlock ignition without disrupting your shot, and the synthetic ramrod is there when you need to load in the field. Williams Fiber Optic Metal sights are fully adjustable for windage and elevation, and their bright fiber tubes gather enough light to keep your sight picture sharp in dawn, dusk, and overcast conditions—the precise moments when whitetail move.
Flintlock hunting is a different rhythm than modern shooting: it demands deliberate preparation, a clean lock, and dry powder. The Deerhunter respects that tradition while keeping the mechanics straightforward so you can focus on the hunt. Whether you're pursuing a muzzleloader season tag or simply prefer the mechanics and challenge of flint ignition, this rifle won't let you down.
