The Taurus GX4XL 9mm pistol is a microcompact carry gun built for shooters who want full-size capacity and control in a frame that actually fits appendix or waistband carry. With a 3.7-inch barrel, 10-round magazine, and striker-fired trigger, it's purpose-built for personal defense, backup duty, or anyone stepping up from a subcompact who refuses to sacrifice round count. This is the gun when you need more than minimal—but still want minimal footprint.

Build-wise, Taurus engineered the GX4XL for shootability without the size penalty. The stainless steel frame with matte finish pairs with a gas nitride-treated alloy steel slide, so you get corrosion resistance without the heft. The flat-faced, serrated trigger is textured for control during stress, and the striker block safety plus visual loaded chamber indicator keep you informed and in command. Drift-adjustable rear and fixed front sights mean you can zero it yourself on the range and dial in your point of aim—no gunsmith trip required.

Takedown and maintenance are straightforward: an easy-release pin gets you to the action fast. The reversible magazine release plays nice with lefties, and both included magazines sport grip cuts to help with stripping when needed. If you're already in the optics ecosystem or planning to go that route, Taurus's T.O.R.O. (Taurus Optic Ready Option) makes that transition seamless. At just 20 ounces unloaded and 6.43 inches overall, it carries light and conceals real, yet has the ergonomics and capacity of a full-size duty gun shrunk down. This is what happens when a maker actually listens to what carry shooters need.
