The Taurus 650 .357 Magnum is a compact, snub-nosed revolver built for everyday carry and personal defense. This 5-shot revolver combines concealable dimensions with magnum stopping power, making it a practical choice for shooters who want serious capability in a pocket-sized package. The fully shrouded hammer eliminates snagging during draw, while the DAO (Double Action Only) trigger and internal hammer design ensure consistent, reliable ignition—even under stress.

Chambered in .357 Magnum, the 650 also accepts .38 Special and .38 Special +P ammunition, giving you flexibility at the range or in the field. Its 5-round cylinder is compatible with standard speedloaders and holsters designed for small-frame .357 Magnum revolvers, so you won't struggle finding carry options or reloading gear. At just under 23 ounces with a 2-inch barrel and 7.66-inch overall length, it disappears in a jacket pocket or ankle holster without printing.

The all-matte-black finish across the steel frame, cylinder, and barrel resists reflection and corrosion. The removable serrated front sight and fixed rear sight provide a straightforward sight picture suitable for close-range defensive work. Whether you're a revolver purist, a backup-gun specialist, or someone who values simplicity and reliability over capacity, the Taurus 650 delivers genuine defensive performance in a size you'll actually carry every day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Taurus 650 suitable for concealed carry?

Yes. At just over 7.6 inches long, 4.6 inches tall, and 22.93 ounces, the 650 is designed specifically for everyday carry. The compact profile and matte black finish minimize printing, and the fully shrouded hammer won't snag on clothing or holster during the draw. Its size makes it ideal for pocket carry, ankle holsters, or inside-the-waistband rigs.

What ammunition does the Taurus 650 accept?

The 650 is chambered in .357 Magnum and also accepts .38 Special and .38 Special +P ammunition. This flexibility lets you choose ammunition based on your needs—practice with less expensive .38 Special loads or carry with full-power .357 Magnum rounds for defensive use.

Will standard .357 Magnum speedloaders and holsters fit the Taurus 650?

Yes. The 5-round cylinder is fully compatible with speedloaders and holsters designed for small-frame 5-shot .357 Magnum revolvers, such as those made for the Taurus 605. You'll have no trouble finding aftermarket support gear.

What does Double Action Only mean?

DAO means every trigger pull both cocks and fires the hammer. There's no single-action capability, which simplifies operation and reduces the risk of accidental discharge under stress. The internal, fully shrouded hammer cannot snag, and the consistent trigger press improves reliability in defensive situations.
