Tapco
The Tapco TAP22004 is a lightweight muzzle brake built for rimfire rifles in .22 LR, engineered to manage recoil and muzzle rise on compact platforms. With its 1/2"×28 threaded design, it threads directly onto compatible .22 LR barrels—a standard pitch for precision rimfire builds and factory rifles alike. At just 2 inches overall length and 0.920 inches in diameter, this brake adds minimal length to your rifle while keeping the profile clean and handy.
Constructed from anodized aluminum, the TAP22004 is built light without sacrificing durability. The anodized finish resists corrosion and handles field use without fuss. For shooters who want to tame .22 LR recoil and blast at the range or in the field, a quality muzzle brake can noticeably improve shot follow-up and sight picture recovery—especially valuable on lighter-recoiling rifles where even modest muzzle movement matters.
Whether you're tuning a dedicated target .22, building a lightweight hunting rig, or upgrading a factory rimfire, the Tapco brake offers straightforward, no-frills performance at a practical price point. Installation is simple: verify your barrel's thread pitch, thread it on, and lock it down—no gunsmith required for most applications.
| Brand | Tapco |
| Model | TAP22004 |
| Thread Pitch | 1/2"×28 |
| Overall Length | 2 inches |
| Diameter | 0.920 inches |
| Material | Anodized Aluminum |
| Application | .22 LR |
The TAP22004 threads onto any .22 LR rifle or barrel with a 1/2"×28 threaded muzzle. This is a standard pitch for most .22 LR firearms, including many factory rifles and custom builds. If you're unsure whether your barrel is threaded, measure the muzzle or consult your rifle's manual—most modern .22 rimfire platforms feature this thread pattern.
No. The TAP22004 simply threads on and off like a suppressor—no gunsmithing or permanent modification required. You can remove it anytime if needed, making it a reversible upgrade.
A muzzle brake works by redirecting some of the muzzle gases, which helps manage recoil impulse and muzzle rise. On a .22 LR—already a low-recoil cartridge—the effect is subtle but measurable, especially noticeable on lighter rifles or during rapid follow-up shots.
The product includes the muzzle brake itself. You may need a small wrench or spanner wrench to install it, depending on your brake's design and your barrel's threading; check your rifle's manual or consult a gunsmith if you're unfamiliar with the installation process.
