TacFire
The TacFire 16" AR-15 barrel in 5.56x45mm NATO gives you a proven, no-nonsense replacement or upgrade barrel for mid-length builds. Whether you're swapping out your factory tube for a fresh one or building a new upper from scratch, this 16-inch barrel strikes a practical balance—short enough for CQB-friendly handling and barrier-blind shooting, long enough to wring good velocity out of standard 5.56 rounds. The black nitride finish protects against corrosion and wear without adding bulk or requiring constant maintenance, making it a solid choice for range work, training, or field use.
A 16-inch barrel is the sweet spot for AR-15 shooters who don't want to register or suppress—it stays under the SBR threshold while keeping your gun nimble. TacFire barrels are budget-conscious alternatives for builders who want a functional, reliable tube without premium pricing. This one's chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, the standard intermediate cartridge for AR-15s, so it'll run factory ammo and play nice with standard uppers and lowers.
Installation requires basic upper assembly knowledge (or a trip to your gunsmith), but once it's in, you've got a field-replaceable barrel that lets you customize your AR for different roles or just keep a backup on hand. The nitride finish handles cleaning and firing without fussing, and there's no timeline pressure—swap it when you need to, not when a manufacturer's marketing cycle demands it.
| Product | TacFire 16" AR-15 Barrel 5.56x45mm NATO Black Nitride Finish |
| Brand | TacFire |
| Barrel Length | 16 inches |
| Chambering | 5.56x45mm NATO |
| Finish | Black Nitride |
| Application | AR-15 |
Yes. This is a standard AR-15 barrel in 5.56x45mm NATO, so it's compatible with any mil-spec AR-15 upper and lower receiver.
The chambers are similar but not identical. 5.56x45mm NATO has a slightly thicker chamber wall and higher pressure rating. Most modern AR-15s are labeled for 5.56 NATO, and this barrel is chambered for that standard.
Barrel installation requires disassembly of your upper receiver and proper headspacing knowledge. If you're not experienced with upper assembly, we recommend having a qualified gunsmith install it to ensure safe, reliable function.
Black nitride is a case-hardening process that protects steel from corrosion and reduces wear from firing and cleaning. It requires less maintenance than bare steel and holds up better than standard bluing in field conditions.
