Surefire
Before you mount a suppressor on a new rifle or carbine build, you need to know whether your barrel, adapter, and suppressor are truly aligned. The Surefire Bore Alignment Rod in 6.8mm caliber is a precision-machined stainless steel tool designed to verify that critical centerline before you fire a single round downrange. Think of it as a bullet-path simulator: you insert the rod through your mounted suppressor on an unloaded firearm, and any concentricity issues—misalignment that could cause keyholing, baffle strikes, or worse—become immediately visible.
Surefire's bore alignment rods are built to exacting tolerances and come in caliber-specific versions for the most common rifle and carbine chamberings. Whether you're building a new precision rifle, swapping barrels, or checking a previously un-shot setup, this tool takes the guesswork out of suppressor alignment. The inspection is straightforward: once the rod is seated, you should see equal spacing between the rod and the suppressor bore all the way through. Any asymmetry tells you something needs adjustment—and you catch it before it becomes a safety or accuracy problem.
This is not a luxury; it's insurance. A bore rod costs far less than dealing with a damaged suppressor, a ruined barrel, or an unsafe situation at the range. If you're running a suppressor or planning to, this 6.8mm rod belongs in your gunsmithing kit.
| Caliber | 6.8mm |
| Material | Stainless Steel |
| Purpose | Bore alignment and concentricity verification |
| Application | Suppressed rifles and carbines |
Use it before firing any new suppressor build, after barrel replacement, or whenever you've assembled a suppressed firearm you haven't shot yet. It's also valuable to check concentricity on any previously un-shot setup. Insert it through your mounted suppressor on an unloaded weapon and inspect for equal spacing between the rod and suppressor bore.
Once the rod is fully seated through the suppressor, you should see equal spacing between the rod and the bore walls along its entire length. Any asymmetry or binding indicates misalignment that needs correction before you fire.
This rod is caliber-specific for 6.8mm. Choose the rod that matches your rifle or carbine caliber. Surefire offers versions for most popular rifle and carbine chamberings.
No. The Surefire bore rod is a reusable precision tool that will serve you across multiple builds and setups. It's a permanent addition to any suppressor user's kit.
