Strike King
The Strike King KVD Jerkbait is a 5.5-inch hard bait designed for bass anglers who want a lure that swims with attitude and catches fish on the pause. This jerkbait combines a responsive action profile with the castability you need to cover water all day. Whether you're working shallow grass, ledges, or open water, the KVD delivers the kind of erratic, natural-looking retrieve that makes bass commit.
What sets this jerkbait apart is the balance between its internal weight transfer system and its 3D eye detailing. The weight transfer design loads up on the cast, letting you reach distant structure without sacrificing accuracy. Once it hits the water, the lure settles into a roll and wiggle that mimics the behavior of natural shad—the exact forage bass are feeding on in most environments. The Natural Shad finish nails this imitation, giving the lure a realistic profile that doesn't spook pressured fish.
Built with three premium black nickel hooks, the KVD is rigged to stick the hookset and hold fish through the fight. These are components that matter when you're targeting quality bass or fishing tournaments where missed chances cost you. Jerkbaits require confidence in your equipment, and Strike King's reputation for durability and hook quality earns that trust.
| Length | 5.5 inches |
| Lure Type | Jerkbait (hard bait) |
| Hook Count | 3 |
| Hook Type | Premium black nickel |
| Finish | Natural Shad |
| Brand | Strike King |
The 5.5-inch size and Natural Shad finish work well in a range of water conditions—from shallow vegetation and hard structure to open water and ledges. Jerkbaits excel when bass are keyed on shad, which is most of the year in fresh water.
Cast it out and use sharp, rhythmic jerks of your rod tip to make the lure dart and roll through the water column. The pause is critical—often the most aggressive strikes come when the lure is falling naturally between jerks. Vary your retrieve speed and pause lengths to trigger bites.
Yes. The KVD comes rigged with three premium black nickel hooks designed to handle solid hooksets and extended fights. Black nickel is also more corrosion-resistant than standard finishes, which matters in saltwater or high-UV environments.
The internal weight transfer mechanism allows the lure to cast farther and more accurately by loading weight toward the tail on the cast, then redistributing it to optimize swimming action in the water. This means you get both distance and lifelike performance.
