The Streamlight ProTac HL LED headlamp is a hands-free lighting solution built for hunters, tactical users, and outdoor workers who need both hands free while maintaining serious light output. With 635 lumens on high and a 184-meter beam distance, this headlamp lights up entire areas with a wide flood beam rather than a narrow spot—ideal for setting up camp, tracking game, or working in the dark. The tilting head reduces neck fatigue on longer sessions, and the included elastic headstrap pairs with a rubber helmet attachment for secure mounting on caps or tactical gear.

The TEN-TAP programming system lets you choose between three different lighting programs: high/medium/low cycling, high-only mode for immediate max brightness, or low/medium/high for preserving battery life until you need the punch. Run times scale with your need—635 lumens for 1.75 hours on high, 105 lumens for 8 hours on medium, or 20 lumens for 36 hours on low. Solid-state power regulation holds light output steady throughout the battery's life, so you're not fighting declining brightness as cells drain.

Built tough in anodized aluminum with a gasket-sealed glass lens, the ProTac HL is rated IPX4 water-resistant and survives 1-meter impact drops. It ships powered by two CR123A lithium batteries (included), ready to run straight out of the box. At 6.8 ounces, it's light enough for extended wear without adding bulk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ProTac HL headlamp waterproof enough for hunting in wet weather?

The ProTac HL carries an IPX4 water-resistance rating, which handles splashing and rain. It's not designed for submersion, but it stands up to typical field conditions—wet brush, morning dew, and moderate precipitation. The gasket-sealed lens helps keep moisture out during normal outdoor use.

How long do the included CR123A batteries last?

Runtime depends on the mode you select. On high (635 lumens), you get 1.75 hours. Medium mode (105 lumens) runs for 8 hours, and low mode (20 lumens) extends to 36 hours. The solid-state power regulation keeps output consistent as the batteries drain, rather than fading gradually.

Can I mount this headlamp on a tactical helmet or cap?

Yes. The headlamp ships with a rubber helmet strap already installed, plus an adjustable elastic headstrap. You can use it on helmets, ball caps, or as a traditional forehead band with the elastic strap alone.

What's the difference between the three TEN-TAP programming modes?

TEN-TAP lets you choose one of three cycling programs: high/medium/low (cycles through all three brightness levels with each press), high only (delivers maximum brightness every time), or low/medium/high (starts at low for battery efficiency and cycles up). Pick the program that matches your task.
