Steyr Arms
The Steyr Arms Scout is a compact, versatile bolt-action rifle built for hunters, sport shooters, and field professionals who need a reliable, portable platform that doesn't sacrifice accuracy or build quality. This .223 Rem/5.56 model (260463E) combines a legendary Austrian rifle heritage with modern ergonomics and a genuinely useful feature set—not marketing gimmicks. The 19-inch cold-hammer-forged barrel keeps overall length manageable at 39.4 inches while the OD Green polymer stock with integrated bipod and UIT rail gives you a functional, no-nonsense work rifle ready for the field or range.
Steyr's Scout platform has earned respect for doing one job well: delivering accurate, dependable performance in a lightweight package. The 25CrMo4 steel action is mated to a single-stage adjustable trigger (4 lbs 8 oz pull) that breaks cleanly, and the four-groove fluted barrel sheds weight without sacrificing rigidity. The polymer double-stack magazine holds 5 rounds standard—a 10-round kit is available if you need more capacity. At 6.6 pounds unloaded, this rifle handles like a rifle should, not a burden.
Sighting options include flip-up iron sights and an integral top Picatinny rail, so you're not locked into any one optic platform. The 3+1 safety is intuitive, and the recoil pad features adjustable spacers to dial in your preferred length of pull. The OD Green finish is both practical and clean-looking—Mannox coating handles abuse without the flashiness. Five removable push-and-turn sling swivel positions let you set up your carry however suits your use case.
Whether you're gearing up for precision rifle sport, hunting medium game, or just want a trustworthy general-purpose rifle that won't quit, the Scout punches well above its weight class. It's the kind of rifle that gets the job done without drama or excuses.
