The Steyr 9mm Conversion Kit for AUG transforms your rifle into a versatile 9x19mm training and practice platform while preserving the familiar controls and ergonomics of your 5.56x45mm AUG. Originally developed for Austrian Police training programs, this complete conversion kit gives AUG owners an economical way to run the same rifle with cheaper, softer-shooting 9mm ammunition—ideal for marksmanship drills, low-cost range sessions, and defensive practice without the recoil and expense of centerfire rifle rounds.
The kit arrives as a drop-in solution: swap out your barrel, bolt carrier group, and trigger pack, and you're ready to shoot. The 16-inch barrel features a 1:10 twist rate optimized for 9mm ballistics and comes threaded at 1/2x28 for suppressor or muzzle device compatibility. The included 28-round waffle-style magazine gives you substantial capacity for training runs, and the design preserves the AUG's legendary reliability and handling. Whether you're an AUG devotee looking to expand your rifle's utility or a training-focused shooter who wants to log rounds affordably, this kit delivers genuine versatility without replacing your primary setup.
Note: This kit is engineered for standard Steyr AUG rifles and is not compatible with NATO-spec AUG models. If you own a classic Austrian-pattern AUG and want to unlock a whole new training dimension, this conversion kit is a straightforward, field-proven way to do it.

The kit includes a 16-inch 9x19mm barrel with 1:10 twist (threaded 1/2x28), a complete bolt carrier group, trigger pack, and one 28-round waffle-style magazine. These are all the components needed to convert your AUG to 9mm.
Yes. The barrel is threaded 1/2x28, which is a standard commercial suppressor thread pitch. Any 1/2x28 suppressor will fit, making subsonic 9mm practice and quiet training very practical.
Absolutely. That's exactly what it was designed for. The 9x19mm cartridge is significantly cheaper and produces less recoil than 5.56x45mm, making it ideal for high-round-count training sessions while maintaining the same AUG manual of arms and ergonomics you know.
