SIERRA BULLETS
The Sierra GameKing 7mm (.284) 150 grain spitzer boat tail bullet is a proven workhorse for 7mm rifle reloaders hunting medium game at distance. This mid-weight projectile delivers the ballistic advantage of a heavier mass compared to lighter 7mm options, making it especially useful in 7mm magnum cartridges when you need effective reach without sacrificing velocity. Sierra's heavy double-tapered jacket design balances expansion and penetration, giving hunters the terminal performance needed on deer, elk, and similar game out to 500 yards when placed correctly.
The boat tail profile boosts the ballistic coefficient, helping your rounds maintain energy downrange and offering flatter trajectory for medium to long-range hunts. The 150 grain weight walks a smart middle ground: it's lighter than heavier magnum loads but carries enough momentum to perform reliably. Reloaders choosing this bullet for 7mm-08 Remington or similar cartridges will appreciate the consistency Sierra is known for. The #1913 has been in production since 1987, proof of its staying power in the hunting and target communities.
While designed primarily for rifle applications, some handloaders have experimented with this bullet in specialized 7mm handgun cartridges—though it's considered overkill for lighter handgun rounds like the 7mm TCU or 7mm BR. When paired with adequate velocity (2500 fps or more in a handgun context), it can serve target or hunting purposes in suitable platform/cartridge combinations. For rifle shooters, there are no restrictions; this bullet works across the full spectrum of 7mm cartridges for both hunting and range use.
| Caliber | .284 (7mm) |
| Weight | 150 grains |
| Bullet Style | Spitzer Boat Tail |
| Part Number | #1913 |
| Quantity per Box | 100 |
| Jacket Type | Heavy double-tapered |
The Sierra GameKing #1913 is compatible with all 7mm rifle cartridges, including 7mm magnums, 7mm-08 Remington, and other standard and magnum 7mm rounds. It's equally suitable for hunting and target shooting across all rifle applications in these calibers.
These bullets are considered too tough for smaller 7mm handgun cartridges like the 7mm TCU and 7mm BR. However, some handloaders use them in larger handgun platforms such as the Remington XP-100 chambered in 7mm-08 Remington or similar combinations, provided velocities reach 2500 fps or higher for hunting applications.
This bullet is designed for medium game at ranges to 500 yards. The expansion and penetration characteristics work well for deer and similar-sized game when loaded and placed appropriately.
The Sierra GameKing #1913 was introduced in 1987 and continues to be produced today, reflecting its proven track record among hunters and reloaders.
